Helena Xu Photography GCSE
Helena used her GCSE ‘Still Life’ coursework project to explore light and time in the surroundings most familiar to her to produce these beautifully minimal and simple images. Having studied the origins of the still life and the photographic image Helena used her every own style and vision to arrange and create atmosphere.

Farah Madzar Photography GCSE
For her exam project on the theme of ‘Together and/or Apart’ Farah ultimately made a film exploring quiet and busy places, noise and stillness, movement and atmosphere. The majority of her footage was shot in central London and countryside near her home but, in preparation for her final piece, she made some lovely studies exploring different locations.

For her GCSE ‘Portraiture’Coursework project Alex considered investigating what clothes, artefacts and possessions say about their owner’s character and personality. Her clear appreciation of colour, light and atmosphere helped her produce some very individual imagery.

Helena explored a variety of approaches and techniques, often using low or artificial light for her GCSE Portraiture project. Gradually paring down her subject matter and colour palette, she finally settled on this set for her final piece.

Eliza used the large scale images of Andreas Gursky as a starting point reference for her Photographers project. She produced a very strong set of studies of urban space, appreciating form and emptiness/solidity and air, mostly shot in the urban metropolis that is Milton Keynes.
