These charming and sensitive oil pastel works are part of Helena's portfolio of GCSE Coursework, for which she was awarded an A*. They are all based on studies of her young nephew.

Helena Xu Photography GCSE
Helena used her GCSE ‘Still Life’ coursework project to explore light and time in the surroundings most familiar to her to produce these beautifully minimal and simple images. Having studied the origins of the still life and the photographic image Helena used her every own style and vision to arrange and create atmosphere.

Helena Xu Photography GCSE
Helena explored a variety of approaches and techniques, often using low or artificial light for her GCSE Portraiture project. Gradually paring down her subject matter and colour palette, she finally settled on this set for her final piece.

Helena Xu, Young Art Oxford 2013
Well done Helena !
Helena Xu's watercolour entry for the Young Art Oxford 2013 competition on the theme 'What I love' was, deservedly, Highly Commended. Helena is in the LTs (Yr 9).
Emily Spence, Jessey Ilomuanya and Alex Boardman (all Yr 9) and Evlyn Lloyd and Teana Heaton (Remove/Yr 7) also had their work exhibited.
