Important Goodbyes !

RUTH WRIGHT PALMER and STEPH KIRKMAN

To mark Ruth's leaving school after a fantastically successful A2 year we are showing more of her Rothko and Twombly inspired acrylic pieces. Ruth developed the motif of the box and drips, and includes the text studied for her Drama A level in the paintings

Steph examined themes of urban space, crowds, context and identity in both still and moving imagery during her A2 year. By experimenting with layering in her photography and altering time/speed in her filmmaking she manipulated the viewer's perception of busy spaces and the way we move through them.

Both girls have been fantastic students, a very positive presence in the Art block and a great example to the younger girls. We all wish them the very best of luck in the future !

Steph Kirkman Photography A2

Steph has made some beautiful work exploring light and water as landscape for one theme of her AS resubmission this year. Most of these images have been taken on her travels and are a small part of a very strong body of A-level work. Well done !

Well done to everybody who entered this years competition. As always, the standard was very high and the judges were particularly impressed by the standard of work right across the ages groups. Congratulations go to Connie Rogers (Yr 11), Eva Kischka (Yr 9), Sophy Vane (Yr 8) and Steph Kirkman (Yr 13) whose images all merited a Commendation.
